Initial counseling sessions at 60 minutes. Individual counseling sessions are 53-60 minutes.
Weekly visits for the first month is highly recommended in order to build rapport with your counselor. At the end of the month, frequency of sessions can be reassessed at that time.
Some clients with more complex or severe symptoms may benefit from attending twice a week.
Children ages 10 and younger are recommended to be seen weekly.
In your initial session, you will share presenting concerns and relevant history. Your counselor will have prepared questions to assist in guiding the initial session. At this time, you and your counselor will discuss counseling expectations and overall goals. In follow up sessions, you can expect to discuss presenting concerns in much more depth.
The length a person attends counseling is dependent on many factors. We cannot guarantee any specific timeframe as progress is predominantly determined based on how much effort is made to engage differently.
